About Us
Just as many babies are, TATY Mode was born in a hospital bed. During my first couple weeks in medical school, I became quite sick and learned I would need to take a year off from my studies.
Turning lemons into lemonade, this seemed like the perfect opportunity to tackle a challenge I had been constantly facing - finding clothes that actually fit.
Not only are petites underrepresented in (cute) clothing options, but also in the fashion marketing world in general (name three high fashion models 5’4/1.63 m or below, we’ll wait).
TATY Mode was created to shift the culture to fashion to be a bit more inclusive of all heights, while shutting down the myth that petite = skinny. Petites come in all shapes and sizes, and are bonded by height (or lack thereof).
Here at TATY, we have been intentional about each step of the process. What does that look like?
- Designing all of our pieces in-house (no fast fashion over here)
- Working over a year to perfect sizing and design elements, through multiple pattern changes and samples
- Ensuring our fabrics were not produced in mills with unethical practices (low wages, unsafe work environments, child labor, etc.)
- Working with a woman-owned manufacturer that pays fair wages in a safe, relaxed environment
- Paying our models + photographers (any other creatives we collab with) fairly
- Using recyclable and/or biodegradable packaging materials
- Offering carbon neutral shipping to offset CO2 emissions into the atmosphere
We take pride in being designed by petites, exclusively for petites just like you and I.
xoxo,
Remi, Founder + Designer
